About the Pewaukee Public Library

Our Mission
The purpose of the Pewaukee Public Library is to provide our community with carefully selected books and other materials to aid in the pursuit of education, information, research, recreation, and the creative use of leisure time.

The Pewaukee Public Library is the joint library of the City and Village of Pewaukee. Located at 210 Main Street, the doors to the 27,600 square foot facility opened in September, 2005. Library material is located on two levels, with fiction, mystery, western, large print, science fiction, and young adult print material on the main level. The main level is also home to audio books, DVDs, music CDs, and an extensive children's library. The lower level of the Library contains nonfiction books, magazines, newspapers, reference material, information services, Internet computers, study rooms, a photocopy machine, coffee bar, and administrative office. The Library also has access to a collection of downnloadable audiobooks and electronic books. Material can located through the online catalog.

The Library is governed by a Board of Trustees who hold monthly meetings that are open to the public.
The goal of the Pewaukee Public Library Foundation has been to raise funds for the construction of the Library, applying donations to building construction debt and building improvements.

The Friends of the Pewaukee Public Library raise funds to help support the Library's mission and provide financial support for items and services that are outside the Library's budget.

Information can be obtained at the Library's Reference Desk, through the Reference email service at or by calling 262 691-5670 Ext. 25. The Library hosts a monthly book club, holds adult programs on a variety of subjects each month and provides material to homebound patrons.

Children's services offers story times, summer reading programs, a monthly Lego Club, homework help, reading lists and other programming to children, families, and young adults.

There are several meeting rooms which can be scheduled for public use, within the terms of the meeting room policy.

The Harken Observatory is housed in the Library and provides education about the wonders of the universe to families.
