What are the directions from I-94?
From east or west on I-94, Exit Highway T also known as Grandview Blvd. Travel North on Hwy T
where just past WCTC the street name changes to Main street. Go North on Main street to Prospect avenue. Turn left on Prospect
avenue. Turn left on Lake Street. Turn left into the library
parking lot.
What are the directions from eastbound Hwy 16?
Exit on Capitol Drive. Travel West on Capitol Drive. Once you
cross the railroad tracks, the name changes to Oakton Avenue. Continue West on Oakton Avenue to Main Street. Turn Left on Main
Street. Travel one block to Prospect Avenue. Turn right on
Prospect Avenue. Go one block to Lake Street. Turn left on
Lake Street and then left into the library parking lot.
I have a card from another library. Can I use
it at the Pewaukee
Public Library?
Yes - if you have a card from the library in Delafield, Eagle,
Oconomowoc, Townhall (Merton), Sussex-Lisbon, Elm Grove, Waukesha,
Brookfield, Mukwonago, Muskego, Big Bend, Butler, or Hartland you do not
need to get another library card. If you have a library card from
any other library (including New Berlin or Menomonee Falls), you will need to register again.
How do I get a new card if I have lost my library card?
Replacement library cards cost $3.00 and may be obtained at the
circulation desk. You will need some
proof of identification (Drivers' license or state ID) to get a new
card.
What do I need to register for a
library card?
Adults need a form of ID (drivers'
license or state ID) and proof of their current address.
If your ID has your correct address, that is all you will need.
If the address on your ID is not current you will need a
postmarked piece of mail, a lease, or mortgage papers to prove
your address.
When is the Observatory open?
The Observatory is open to the public when the Pewaukee
Astronomy Society has scheduled an open house. Please check the
Observatory
Website for events scheduled by the Pewaukee Astronomy
Society.
Does the library have computers I can use?
The library has eight computer available for patrons 12 years
and older located on the lower level in the Adult Non-Fiction
area. If you are eighteen or older you need your
library card to log in. If you are under eighteen or are a
guest in our community, you will need to register at the
Reference Desk.
There are four computers located in the
Children's Library on the main level of the library.
Parents and children 12 and under can work together on these
computers. Everyone will need to register at the
Children's Reference Desk to use these computers.
All patrons
under 18 must have a permission slip signed by their parent or
guardian on file in order to use the Internet.
To ensure that
everyone has access to the Internet computers, patrons are
allowed 60 minutes per day of computer time.

Do you have wireless Internet access?
Yes! Your laptop
must have a wireless card to use the wireless Internet access.

What are the fees for returning an item late?
$0.15
per day per Adult book, magazine, CD, or audiobook.
$1.00 per day per video or DVD
There is a maximum fine of $10.00 per item.
Juvenile books, magazines, music CDs and audiobooks do not have
fines. How can I renew my items?
There are three ways to renew items: come to the circulation desk in person,
login to your account online, or call the Reference Desk at
262-691-5670 x25. Library material can be renews up to two times
if it has not been reserved by another patron.
How do I reserve or place a hold on an item?
There are a several ways to place a hold on library material
that can be found in the CAFE catalog which lists the holdings
of 14 public libraries in Waukesha County. Holds may be placed
by contacting the Reference Desk or by using our online catalog
to reserve material.
To reserve material that is currently checked out or available
at other CAFE libraries:

Locate
the item in the catalog and bring up the full
description. |

Click the
link labeled Place Hold. |

3. |
Enter the
Library Card ID located on the back of your card. It often
begins with PPEW or CAFÉ. Enter the complete ID - letters and
numbers and special characters - without spaces.

Enter your
birth date in the format noted. (For example, a January 1, 1981
would be entered as 01/01/1981)

Verify
the pick-up library. |

Optional: If you want the hold to remove itself after a
certain date, enter an expiration date. If you'd like to
suspend your hold for a period of time (for example,
while you are on vacation) you can enter the suspend
start and end dates for the time period in which you do
not want a hold to be filled. Click the small calendar
tool to select the dates. You are not required to
enter these dates. |

A page verifying the item
you have placed on hold will appear. Click OK.

When the item is available, the
library will call you and you have 7 days to pick up your item
at the Circulation desk.
I just placed a hold. When will
it be available for me to pickup?
When the item is
available, the library will call you. If the material
is checked in, the best estimate is 3 to 5 business days before
your hold is ready. Please wait for the library to call you to
let you know the material is available for pick-up.
I have checked out items from the
Pewaukee library. Can I return them to another library?
CAFE stands for "Catalog Access For Everyone" and is the name of
the group of libraries located in Waukesha County, Wisconsin who
have voluntarily joined together to provide a cost effective
shared catalog of their resources. Fourteen libraries
participate in this group and material checked out from one CAFE
library can be returned to another. The 14 CAFE libraries are
Big Bend, Brookfield, Butler, Delafield, Eagle, Elm Grove,
Hartland, Mukwonago, Muskego, Oconomowoc, Pewaukee, Townhall
(Merton), Sussex-Lisbon, and Waukesha.
Can I use one of the library's meeting
rooms for a group meeting or event?
The Pewaukee Public Library has three meeting rooms available
for nonprofit clubs or organizations based in
Waukesha
County, or for-profit organizations based in Pewaukee. The
for-profit fee per meeting is $50.00. You can view information
